All of our programs inspire positive social impact in our communities to initiate dialogue and conversations, to bring awareness and attention to social issues, to create solutions, and provide a platform for our young creative visionaries to not only be the leaders of tomorrow but the leaders of today. 


Development Specialist

Classification: Part-Time, Hourly Employee

Compensation: $35 per hour

Benefits: Paid Sick Leave

Reports jointly to: Executive Artistic Director and Development Manager

Schedule: Up to 15 hours per week

Location: Los Angeles, CA 

              Applicants must live in the Greater Los Angeles area.

This is a hybrid, remote position with some in-person meetings at various locations throughout the Greater Los Angeles area. Must be available to work some evenings and weekends based on needs.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position reports jointly to the Executive Artistic Director and the Development Manager. 4C LAB is seeking a Development Specialist, who is the point of contact for daily activities of the Development Team with responsibility for the timely and effective execution of the organization’s fundraising strategy as driven by the Development Manager. The Development Specialist will collaborate with the Development Manager to identify opportunities, and implement and track activities related to the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of gifts in support of 4C LAB’s mission.

As a member of the 4C LAB Team, the Development Specialist will be committed to upholding an antiracist work environment and the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusivity. The Development Specialist will also understand the history and mission of the organization and the communities we serve. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential functions of the Development Specialist include:

  1. Conduct Research, Identify Prospects and Cultivate

  • Conduct research to identify prospective institutional funders with the capacity for making grants of $50k or more annually, and reporting results to the Development Manager for qualification.

  • Under the guidance of the Development Manager, identify, qualify, and write and submit proposals for grant opportunities between $10k and $30k.

  • Schedule meetings and implement cultivation strategies with agreed-upon program officers and other foundation leadership in the proactive pursuit of grant funding.

  • Attend weekly pipeline meeting with Development Manager.

  1. Writing Grants

  • Assist Development Manager in managing the grant writing process. This includes using a pre-defined workflow to establish deadlines and ownership of tasks to ensure timely submission of grant proposals, and conducting follow-up with the grant writing team.

  • Guided by a pre-defined workflow and in coordination with the grant writing team, serve as writer on Letters of Inquiry and Intent (LOI), proposals, reports, and other required documents.

  1. Manage Data & Information and Reporting

  • Update and maintain an effective answer bank.

  • Upload funder correspondence, prospect research, meeting notes, grant agreements, payment information, reporting deadlines and requirements, and other data and information on a weekly basis.

  • Update development dashboard weekly.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will be a personable and dynamic self-starter with the following qualifications:

  • Understand foundations and institutional giving.

  • Knowledge of Los Angeles arts and culture funders.

  • Experience tracking grants.

  • Excellent writing skills and a minimum of two years in nonprofit grant writing or other fundraising writing.

  • Demonstrated ability to self-manage and prioritize, solve problems, and follow through on assignments with minimal direct supervision.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team as needed in order to accomplish objectives.

  • Proactive and detail-oriented with strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with the ability to manage up, coordinate the work of others, and integrate that work into a final product of the highest quality.

  • Proficiency with computers and standard software programs including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google Workspace. 

Preferred: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Experience with donor and grants management software

  • Strong commitment to social justice

  • Proficiency with monday.com project management and Slack messaging

Programs Recruitment “Street Team” member

Classification: Contractor

Compensation: $18/hr

Reports jointly to: Community Partnerships & Programs Manager and Programs Coordinator 

Schedule: Varies (1-3 hours per week)

Location: Los Angeles, CA 

               Applicants must live in the Greater Los Angeles area.

This is primarily a remote position with some in-person meetings and program attendance. Must be available to work some evenings and weekends depending on need.

Must have reliable transportation and the ability to visit schools and community partners at different locations around Los Angeles, the San Gabriel Valley, and the surrounding areas during school time and after school hours. 

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the leadership of the 4C LAB program team, we are seeking new team members to join our recruitment department and help support 4C LAB’s no-cost arts programming and the organization's overall mission. The ideal candidate will have experience working with young people, middle and high school-aged youth a plus,  be engaging and outgoing with excellent communication skills, as this person will be interacting with program staff, youth participants, school and nonprofit administrators, and community partners. 

They are also committed to upholding an antiracist work environment and the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusivity. Recruitment will understand the history and mission of the organization and the communities we serve.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist the 4C LAB programs team by engaging directly with youth at middle schools, high schools, partnership facilities, and events to share 4C LAB’s mission, programming, and other vital information in a fun, exciting, and dynamic way. 

  • Represent the organization when interacting with the community, embodying the philosophy and values of the organization. 

  • Share highlights of 4C LAB programming with youth and families to inspire and encourage youth to register for our NO COST arts programming.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will be a personable and dynamic self-starter with the following qualifications:

  • Have strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills and work well with youth.

  • A highly motivated self-starter who takes initiative with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

  • Demonstrated ability to manage details, solve problems, and follow through on assignments with minimal direct supervision. 

  • Must have a strong work ethic, integrity, and follow through to ensure a positive experience with all co-workers, partners, and youth. 

Preferred: 

  • Knowledge of the Los Angeles arts and culture community

  • Strong commitment to social justice

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus!
